Is the Confederate flag not a treasonous symbol?

The Confederate States of America was comprised of states that seceded from the Union according to the United States Constitution of which they were signatories. It was the Union army that invaded the sovereign states and began the War Between the States. The first shots were fired by the Union army. So by your reasoning, the Union and their army are the ones who committed treason.
