A question for Christians about the willfull ignorance of atheists?

Most of us Christians believe that these are the end times that we are living in because no other generation as we know it has fulfilled the end time prophecies like we have today. Even people that don't believe in God realise the world has gone crazy. But do you think atheists will only wake up when it's too late? When we talk about the end times to atheists they distort the scriptures and twist what Jesus was saying. They try to make out that Jesus predicted his return in the lifetime of his disciples. I know what scriptures they are referring to and they totally distort its true meaning. But it seems like people are becoming more aware that something big is about to happen. Even non-Christians are asking a lot of questions. People are also expecting a war in the middle east. The president in Iran believes that Israel has to be destroyed and he believes that he plays a part in end time prophecy. He believes that in order for the Mahdi to come there has to be a lot of bloodshed and war in the world. The Mahdi is the savior in Islam, but this will actually be the Antichrist. I have such a strong gut feeling that in the very near future there will be something much worse than 911 and maybe big natural disasters. And the spread of Islam to change the times and laws is getting more widespread. Will atheists only wake up when it's too late? God is trying to wake people up. But sadly atheists think that all this is just normal and we have nothing to worry about.
