What is an appropriate number of flowers for a girl on a date?

I'm taking a girl to this formal but fun banquet tonight. She'll be wearing a dress and I'll be wearing a suit. I want to buy her flowers, some white roses, but I'm not sure how many to buy. I'm on a tight budget. Would a single white rose be alright or should I go for 3?
