My dog has a bald spot right above her right leg, it looks scaly and what looks like a red sore on the spot?

It on her underbelly and right above her right leg. Its about the size of my fist and looks scaly like a alligators skin, there are spot other littler spots on it that are a bit raised up and pinkish. The whole spot is pink while if I look closer to where her hair grows her skin smoothes out and is her normal skin color. My dog has also had issues lately with an ear infection in both ears and her equilibrium was off, still kind of is. She's getting to be more of an older dog and I don't know if there is something seriously wrong or if all these problems just come with her age. Please help, we've spent so much taking her to the vet. Thank you
